Publishing to xAPI

The Publish to xAPI option is part of an evolving standard that enables users on learning management systems to download the next generation of SCORM-compliant materials, called Experience (xAPI). For the latest specifications, documents, and explanations of terms, see the official xAPI website (http://experienceapi.com/).

To publish project for xAPI, follow these steps:

  1. Save project.

  2. On the Home ribbon, click the drop-down list under Publish in the Publish group and select xAPI. The program performs an error check and displays the results in the Publish Project to xAPI Compliant Web Content window.

  3. To filter the messages to only show the errors that were discovered in project, select Show errors only. To filter the messages to only show the warnings that were discovered in project, click Show warnings only.

  4. Resolve any errors within project. If necessary, click Cancel and repeat steps 1 and 2 until project is free of errors.

  5. Click Publish when you are satisfied with the results of the error check. The Publish to xAPI window opens.

  6. Use the following tabs on the Publish Location window to specify your publishing settings:

  7. Once you have completed configuring all of the publishing options, click OK. Your project is published to your local directory. When the publishing process has completed, click the FTP Project button to upload project to the Web server specified. If you did not configure FTP settings, this option is not available.

  8. Click the Done button to close the publishing window. When available, you can also click the Preview button to launch the published project. Using a QR Code reader, scan the QR Code to quickly open the published project on Lectora Online's temporary server.

When you make changes to project, you will need to republish it so the new changes are reflected in the published project. Repeat these steps as necessary to republish project.
