Publishing to SCORM

The Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) is a set of inter-related technical specifications built upon the work of the AICC, IMS, and IEEE to create a unified content model for Web-based learning content. For the latest specifications, documents, and explanations of terms, see the official SCORM website (http://www.adlnet.gov/).

Projects published with the Publisher will meet or exceed the guidelines for SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004.

When publishing to SCORM 2004 with a standard project type, the completion status is set to complete when an Exit Project action is executed. If you require more control, change the project type and use the Reserved Variables to set the completion status.

For information about the reserved variables available for AICC/SCORM for LMS projects, see the additional variables sectional in Reserved Variables.

To publish project for a SCORM system, follow these steps:

  1. Save project.

  2. From the File tab, click the Publish toolbar graphic and select the Publish to SCORM menu item. The Publisher performs an error check and displays the results in the Publish Project to SCORM Compliant Web Content window.

See also: Running an error check

  3. To filter the messages to only show the errors that were discovered in project, select Show errors only. To filter the messages to only show the warnings that were discovered in project, click Show warnings only.

  4. Resolve any errors within project. If necessary, click Cancel and repeat steps 1 and 2 until project is free of errors.

  5. Click Publish when you are satisfied with the results of the error check. The Publish SCORM Location window opens.

Use the following tabs within this window to specify publishing options, FTP information and compression guidelines:

  6. Once you have completed configuring all of the publishing options, click OK. Your project is published to your local directory. When the publishing process has completed, click the FTP Project button to upload project to the Web server specified. If you did not configure FTP settings, this option is not available.

  7. Click the Done button to close the publishing window. When available, you can also click the Preview button to launch the published project. Using a QR Code reader, scan the QR Code to quickly open the published project on Lectora Online's temporary server.

When you make changes to project, you will need to republish it so the new changes are reflected in the published project. Repeat these steps as necessary to republish project.
