Mission Report: Sessions to Polish Your Lectora Skills at LUC 2017

LUC 2017 Mission Report: Sessions to Polish Your Lectora Skills at LUC 2017

We have a packed schedule at the 2017 Lectora® User Conference on May 3-4, so to help you choose which breakout sessions to attend, we’ve been highlighting them on the blog. In the last few weeks, we took a look at sessions on gamification, audio and video, plus these three sessions.Today, I want to share a few of the Lectora-focused sessions to help you polish your development skills. Take a look:

Using Conditions on your Actions

Keith Gallacher, American Red Cross

Learners like to have control. Using Lectora, and specifically conditions to actions, I am able to present the illusion of control to the content while still maintaining control of the course, navigation, and even the content they see, if i wish. This maintains the integrity of the material, but again allows the learner to feel in control, which helps with engagement. What I will share are a few examples (in Lectora Inspire 16) that include the use of conditions, why I like conditions, and also a how-to demo of adding a condition.

Downright Sneaky Tricks for Actions, Groups, and Transitions

John Mortenson, The Fresh Market

One challenge of using a flexible program like Lectora (16 on desktop) is that it takes time and experience to understand the implications of various approaches. After having to update old courses and teach new staff on best practices, I realized that my strategy for how to use actions, groups, and transitions had evolved significantly. This presentation is a collection of those insights which help our courses to be easier to update, less crazy to debug, and more organized. I talk first about actions, then groups, and transitions, because they are all interrelated.
