Attendees at the 2017 Lectora® User Conference got to see how Huntington Bank created a responsive Lectora template. Breakout session presenters Randy Meredith and Jay Russo created the responsive template after they were tasked with converting Huntington Bank desktop training to mobile in a short amount of time.Requirements at Huntington Bank included the following: they needed to use responsive design, include user-generated content, make it accessible, and update the template’s appearance.One challenge in particular was that they needed the template to work for multiple mobile device types. Randy and Jay chose to take advantage of Responsive Course Design™ (RCD) in Lectora 16 (the first version of the desktop authoring tool with RCD—Lectora 17 with RCD is now available for those who would like to test it out.)They needed to overhaul the entire look and feel of the old Huntington Bank training template with the new corporate colors to match the new style guide the marketing department had created, so the whole template was created from scratch in Lectora using RCD.Randy and Jay shared practical tips on using Responsive Course Design and developing for mobile with LUC 2017 attendees, based on their own experience. They discussed how they created navigation buttons the correct size for mobile—but also clearly conveyed the meaning of their respective functions—which you can see in the photo below.

In addition, Randy and Jay shared that they eliminated rollover states for mobile in their template because you can’t really roll over buttons on a touch screen.
