Trivantis announces Webtora, the Web 2.0 edition of Lectora Publisher adding extensive work group collaboration features. Lectora, the industry leading eLearning authoring platform, to be available for online Web 2.0 authoring
Cincinnati, OH – Trivantis Corporation®, the market leading developer of eLearning authoring and publishing software for the FORTUNE 1000 and leading education institutions, today announced Webtora, the Web 2.0 edition of Lectora Publisher. In addition to the extensive features of Lectora, Webtora will include the ability for wide-scale collaboration and communication among users. Work groups of any size, from small 2-person teams to global organizations, will benefit significantly from these new collaboration features. The product is delivered through a wide variety of web browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, and Apple Computer’s Safari.
"Webtora can be used anytime, anywhere the user has an Internet browser," said Tim Loudermilk, company founder and chief software architect. "This expands the Lectora capabilities to enable users on virtually any computer platform with a supporting browser to author and collaborate in the creation of eLearning content. In addition to the browsers supported by Windows, we are excited about bringing Apple Macintosh users the capability to easily build engaging eLearning content."
Webtora also provides online content management and storage, including extensive security and backup features for users. The product supports work groups with course development management features such as authoring process management, revision control, workflow management, live author and team chat, and "sticky note" communication capabilities.
In contrast to current products on the market that provide online creation capabilities through simple templates and wizards with limited browser support, Webtora provides extensive and complete authoring capabilities. Of course, templates and wizards are also available to the user for rapid eLearning development, yet these rapid features are extended by the full power of Lectora Publisher in this new web format.
Webtora and Lectora users will be able to share content and cooperate on course development. By providing closely integrated desktop and web delivered authoring capabilities, Trivantis customers will have the most advanced and capable authoring solutions available. "Webtora and Lectora work together so well that no matter where or when our customers are authoring, they will have the complete solution available," added Loudermilk.
Webtora will be available in the fourth quarter of 2008. In addition to this online service, Trivantis will provide the solution in a "behind the firewall" installation for corporations and institutions that want to provide their employees with an in-house solution.
