June 1, 2004

Cincinnati, Ohio – Trivantis Corporation, the leader in digital content authoring and publishing software, today announced the introduction of the first learning management system (LMS) for Apple OSX servers, CourseMill 3.5. Corporations, government agencies, universities, and school systems now can deliver and manage elearning initiatives online using Apple Xserve servers and Trivantis CourseMill 3.5 LMS.

The combination of Apple servers’ high-speed delivery and Trivantis CourseMill’s robust course and student management system provide educators unrivaled capabilities for deploying elearning content throughout the building, across the campus, or around the world. When hosted on an Apple server, CourseMill is wholly integrated with the OSX database and My SQL for the capture, storing, and access of course and student data.

Among the features of the Apple-compatible edition of CourseMill are:

First introduced in 2001, CourseMill gained wide acceptance because it is an LMS that is affordable and easy to install. While most systems cost a minimum of $100,000 and take days or weeks to install, CourseMill delivers an affordable elearning management solution for under $30,000 and is installed and operating within a single business day.

CourseMill 3.5 hosts content created in Trivantis’ world-class, best-of-breed authoring tool, Lectora Publisher, and custom content published by other tools as well as commercial SCORM-conformant courseware. With CourseMill, the number of courses and number of students are unlimited.

“The name ‘Apple’ has been synonymous with computer-based education for decades,” said Tim Loudermilk, Trivantis founder and CEO. “Trivantis’ CourseMill extends that legacy by being the first LMS to provide learning management capabilities to educators who rely on Apple servers.”
