While the launch of the new Apple iPad generates excitement and speculation about future applications, did you know it’s already compatible with Lectora? Lectora features one-click publishing to the iPad in html format. We’ve also made it just a bit easier for you: We’ve created templates pre-formatted for the iPad to help you get started – and they’re free to download on our site for a limited time. 

Accessing Lectora Templates for the Apple iPad

To access the iPad templates in Lectora:

• Select the Templates tab from the Lectora launch pad.
• Use the drop-down menu to select Templates Online. You must have access to the Internet to access these templates.
• Expand the Templates Online category and select the iPad Templates subcategory.
• Select any of the templates within this category to see a preview of the template.
• Select the iPad template you want to use and click OK. You will be prompted to enter a name for the new title you want to create using this template, as well as the location to which you want to save it.
• Click Finish to create your new title using this template. The title will open for you to begin adding your content.

Be sure to:

• Set the size of your content pages for the iPad at: 1024W x 690H
• Add the following Meta tag to the title level to ensure the content is sized appropriately for the viewing area on the iPad. <meta name = "viewport" content = "initial-scale = 1.0, maximum-scale = 1.0, user-scalable = no"> To add this Meta tag, add an External HTML Object of type Meta tags to the title level. Specify the above tag (referenced in italics above) within the Custom HTML field of the object's properties.
• Videos in the .MOV format is viewable on the iPad. Stay away from Flash animations and video. The iPad does not support SWF or FLV files.
