    Question Transparent table of contents

I have a title that I'm currently publishing only to stand alone exe. I inserted a table of contents (TOC), and added a button to toggle its visibility. That works fine, but the TOC frame background is transparent, and it's impossible to read the TOC with the page text behind it. Yes, I set the background color to white!

If I set the background color to blue, for example, I get a blue transparent background. I've checked and unchecked "transparent frame", even though I'm not publishing to HTML.

Is there a way to get the TOC background to be solid?

    Thanks!

Works fine here. What version of Lectora? Are you sure that the TOC is on top of the other objects? Can you zip the file and post here? Maybe just a couple of pages. Use File menu > Export > Zip and post using the Go Advanced button.

    Arrow Title uploaded

    Thanks, Dr. Ben!

I zipped and uploaded (I hope) the title. My client holds their material very closely, so I had to change the text to gobbledygook. I left the object names alone, however, so you can see what they are. To get the zip file size low enough, I removed most of the pages, and all of the media and pictures (except for buttons). The TOC problem is still evident, however.

The TOC is not initially visible; the leftmost button (with the eye) toggles it on and off.

    I'm using:
    Enterprise Edition
    vX.1 (6616)

    Windows XP Pro

Hope you can figure it out!

You have the text block on the page set to Always On Top so it will be on top of the TOC. Turn off that option on all objects on a page.

    Default Doh!

Well, yeah, I guess that might work. Actually, in fact, it does. Thanks so much for the direction! Of course, as usually happens, one answer promtps more questions:

I had the TOC set to "Always on top", as well. Why was the text box always on the "absolute" top? Is there a "top hierarchy"?

On some pages (in other courses) I have diagrams where I use a common base, with different overlays for different process steps, variations, etc. On those pages, I have "Always on top" off for the base picture, and on for each of the overlays. Will this cause a problem if students bring up the TOC on those pages? Is there another way to do that?

Now that I have to uncheck "Always on top" for two textboxes and several pictures on each page, is there an easy way to do that? Macro? Automation? I hate to think how long it'll take me to do it manually!

BTW, I got some great tips from your web site - thanks for that, too!

    Gratefully,
    Bob

Yes there is a hierarchy. Lectora places things on the desktop starting at the top of the left pane so the things at the top get buried by the things farther down the left pane. It makes 2 passes. 1 for all those objects that do NOT have the Always on top box checked and the second for the Always on top things. So, an Always on top at the page is farther down so it ends up on top of other title level objects.

Yes it will cause a problem. Can you simply layer the things properly on those pages and turn off the Always on top?

There is no easy way to do uncheck all the text boxes that I know of. Sorry. With Lectora X it should go pretty quickly.

    Smile

I had tried "layering things correctly" before, but had problems. Now that I know point 1 (the hierarchy), I'll be able (I hope) to arrange elements in the nav pane (overlays below base pictures, for example. Then, I should be able to turn off "Always on top" with abandon!.

(Still wish there was a macro capability, however.)

Thanks, and have a good weekend!
    Bob
