    Default Reselling SCORM files

We are a learning system company that recently decided to sell our content - all created in Lectora. Do you know of any software we can buy or can this be done in Lectora:

    1. Reports back to our LMS and our client's LMS with course information, number of attempts, etc.
    2. Allows us to update without having to send/upload new files
    3. Protects our content for access only as required by our contract with our client.

Currently, we can only protect our data if a client buys our lms with content. However, some of our clients want to buy only content to train on their LMS. We want to be able to track and update the content.

Hi, I wonder why nobody has answered this yet. Not so many e-learning integrators here, huh.

Yes, there are a few ways to solve your problem.

    1. Add protective features to your courseware. It can be as simple as a function that queries your database for permission to run a course with specific ID and disables the course if this ID is not recognized or marked as "not subscribed". Each query can be tracked on your side for statistical and billing purposes.
You can build on the above and add advanced features:
    a) users see a warning message that explains what's going on and why the course is disabled
    b) the course is only disabled after Page 5, so users can try the course before they buy it and so forth
    Pros: relatively easy to implement
Cons: relatively easy to hack, since the content is stored on your client's server

    2. Provide your client with a SCORM-compatible shell that is launched inside their LMS and then communicates with your server, pulls all content off it, displays this content, tracks user progress and reports back to the client's LMS as a normal course would do.
    Pros: relatively complex setup
Cons: you have complete control over who sees what at any point

The latter setup also allows you to update the files on your server without having to send/upload anything to your client's server.

Let me know if you need further assistance with this.

    Cheers,
    S.

    Hi S,

I am interested in your #2 option posted which states, "Provide your client with a SCORM-compatible shell that is launched inside their LMS and then communicates with your server, pulls all content off it, displays this content, tracks user progress and reports back to the client's LMS as a normal course would do."

How do I do this or who can I hire to help me do this?

    thanks!

    Hi Mindy,
I sent you an email. But in case anyone else is reading this, SCORM Cloud is a great tool, especially its Dispatch functionality. Let me know if you need help with this.

    Cheers,
    Sergey
